We had a few out sick tonight as we finished up Paper 165 with the "Answer to Peter's Question". and started in on the "Last Visit to Northern Perea", where Jesus reprimanded some of the Pharisees and threw lawyers pretty far under the bus. Much discussion ensued, and we finished with wonderous (non-nut) brownies.

We had a nice group at the meeting, with a first time attender. We started out in the Perean Mission with the Sermon on the Good Shepherd, and continued through until Jesus took a nap after all those questions on wealth. We enjoyed some fellowship and chocolate cookies afterwards.

We perused as Jesus and the twelve moved their camp to Pella. We were able to share one of Jesus' "rare moments of emotional ecstasy" and had much discussion about Tyre & Sidon, but were comforted by the "heavy laden, I will give you rest" passage. We ended with the story of the Good Samaritan, and some modern day encouragement from MTV's "If You Really Knew Me", which was at PC West High School last spring. Lively fellowship afterwards was aided by Rice Krispie Treats.

We enjoyed another good group as we started in on Paper 163, Ordination of the Seventy at Magadan. We covered several famous phrases, with 'nowhere to lay his head', 'camel through eye of needle', and the vineyard-denarius parable. We also enjoyed fellowship afterwards over M&M cookies.

We enjoyed a couple of people who had not attended our Wednesday class before. We were in the middle of the Feast of Tabernacles where Jesus' discourses were straight forward, with few comparisons. The descriptions of the candelabras, golden pitcher, silvery trumpets, and the paradise apple were enchanting, and of course Jesus proclaiming "I am the light of the world" and "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" is truly memorable. We enjoyed some chocolate chip cookies of the mostly non-flat variety along with fellowship afterwards.

We had a small group to finish up the Mount of Transfiguration, where Jesus began telling the apostles about his death directly and without parables. And he also used the example of a child's faith to make progress in the kingdom. We had some delicious chewy bars afterwards.

We had a crowd of 16 to start in on the Events Leading up to the Capernaum Crisis. The discussion was lively, amazing, and inspirational, as was the text we were reading. From the faith of a mustard seed to a channel of the infinite God we ranged in discussion as Jesus performed healing and fed 5000, and then turned down kingship. We contemplated John Mark's exclamation "and he refused to be our king" over a cake brownie cookie fusion recipe from the kitchen of Jill.
