Bonnie Waldine (Pfeifer) StumpOur beloved mother graduated Friday, July 09, 2010. Waldine was born April 10, 1931, in Randlett, Oklahoma, to Rexford Waldo and Mary (Tompkins) Pfeifer. They moved to Midwest City when she was 8 years old. Mom played the oboe in the marching band, sang in the school plays and graduated from Midwest City High School in 1948. She married George W. Stump, Jr. on August 3, 1950, and they had four children, Georgia, Mark, Barbara, and Diane.Waldine was a Redlands Council Girl Scout leader for the Townsend Elementary Brownie Troop, Kerr Jr. High Junior Girl Scout Troop, and Del City High Cadette Troop for ten years. She sang in the choir at Sunny Lane United Methodist Church of Del City in the 60's, with St. Luke's United Methodist Church choir in the 70's, and also enjoyed singing with the Oklahoma Sweet Adelines.Mom's business career began as a keypunch operator from the mid-60's to the 80's for Lear Siegler and Don Floyd. Her love of the ocean motivated her to move to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, in 1983, where she taught computer software programs at Broward County Community College for twelve years. Waldine's profound desire to know God and seek to do His will led her to the lifelong dedication of studying and living the teachings of the Urantia Book, which she found in 1961. Mom delighted in getting to know other readers of the book and attended numerous Urantia conferences across the US and Canada. She also traveled with them to Jerusalem twice, the Greek Islands and Rome and the Council for the Parliament of World Religions in Barcelona, Spain.Mom took great pleasure in spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed going on cruises with them every chance she got. She loved to sing and entertain, feel the sand between her toes, and swim in every body of water she could get into, from the murky Oklahoma Red River to the majestic Mediterranean Sea. At fifty she parasailed, at sixty she stood with her cane on the peek of an Alaskan Iceberg, and at seventy she went hang gliding with her son. Most affectionately, it is said of mom that she is the strongest woman we've ever known and that her adventurous enthusiasm and genuine faith led her to live life to the fullest, even to "push the envelope." She is preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Rexford and Mary (Tilley) Pfeifer; and her mother and stepfather, Mary (Tompkins) and Nobes E. Nicholl, Sr. She is survived by her children: Georgia (Maichek) Stump, Mark Stump and wife Charrie (Toy) Stump, Barbara Stump-Hester and Diane (Joiner) Stump; her grandchildren: Eric Maichak, Kristin Joiner, Jason Joiner and wife Tina (Lyness) Joiner, Rachel Stump, and Jessica Hester; brother-in-law and wife, Donald and Margaret Stump; sister-in-law, Betty Abell; brother-in-law, Ronald Stump; aunts: Nadine Bowles and Jewel Estes; Julie Julius, Mike Hooper, Phyllis (Estes) Davis, Phillip Estes, Jeanice Goode and many other loving family members.
